Proof of financial ability is a formal admission requirements at UiT, for non-EU/EEA applicants. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) requires that you must have access to enough funds to pay for own living expenses for at least one academic year, to be granted a study permit.

The Arctic Student Welfare Organization of Norway (Studentsamskipnaden) have a deposit account in Danske Bank for foreign students, where they can deposit the required amount of money. You will have access to your money after arriving in Norway through a prepaid card (cash card) until you receive a national ID number to open your own bank account. The deposit will only be transferred to your bank account or to your cash card (se below for detailed information).

Self-funded students must transfer their funds to the deposit account to be able to apply for a student visa (Study Permit). The deadline for transfer is June 1st.

If you live in Norway and have your own Norwegian bank account, you do not need to transfer any fund to the deposit account.

If you live in Norway but do not have your own Norwegian bank account, you may use the student deposit account arrangement to renew or extend your Student Residence Card in Norway. The deadine for transfer is June 1st.
