How to pay the tuition fee

Applicants from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland will receive payment instructions for the tuition fee after accepting the offer of admission. Payment instructions will be sent to the applicants registered email in the beginning of May.

It can take up to three weeks for the university to register the payment, depending on the bank connection. When the university has registered the payment, we will send a confirmation which can be used as documentation when applying for a student residence permit.

Norway has strict rules when it comes to bank transfers between countries, in accordance with the Act relating to Measures to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (the Anti-Money Laundering Act). The tuition fee must be paid by yourself, from your own bank account. If someone is sponsoring you they have to transfer the required amount to your bank account, so you can make the payment yourself. The only exception is if your sponsor is a person who lives in Norway and has a Norwegian bank account. It can be complicated to refund the money (if necessary) if the payment comes from another person, who may be staying in another country. In principle, the tuition fee cannot be paid by a company or an organization. If you receive a scholarship from an organization and the tuition fee is to be paid by that organization, you must contact us for clarification.

The tuition fee can be paid through separate transactions, but the tuition fee must be paid in full before each academic year. It is not possible to pay the tuition fee in installments. The semester fee for autumn and spring semester is included in the tuition fee.

PLEASE NOTE: Tuition fee must NOT be transferred to the deposit account for living expences.

Refund policy

If you have paid the tuition fee, but later have to withdraw from the program, you can apply to have the tuition fee refunded within September 1st.

After September 1st we ordinarily do not refund the tuition fee.

Exemptions:

  • Incidents beyond the students control, that makes it impossible to complete the studies: You may be granted full or partial refund, depending on the time. Tuition fees will not be reimbursed for semesters/courses the student has completed in accordance with their individual education.
  • If the student is granted leave of absence from the programme before the due date for payment, the student will be exempted from the obligation to pay tuition fees for the semester(s) covered by the leave of absence.
  • If the student loses their study place at the programme, or is temporarily excluded, there will be no refund.

Please note that after September 1st we do not refund the administration fee of NOK 10 000 and the semester fee for the student welfare organization.

If the students status changes after September 1st, resulting in the student qualifying for exemption from the tuition fees, the student can apply for exemption from the next academic year.
