NORD-FLEX
NORD-FLEX is a Nordic–Baltic collaborative project focused on developing sustainable, resilient, and flexible energy systems, and build knowledge of AI-enabled flexibility, EV and battery storage integration, and IoT-based energy data infrastructure to support resilient renewable energy systems in the Baltic and Arctic regions and to strengthen Nordic-Baltic cooperation. The partnership brings together UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, Tallinn University of Technology (TalTECH) in Estonia, and Reykjavik University (RU) in Iceland, combining expertise in power electronics and EV/battery storage integration, AI-driven energy management and flexibility optimization, and IoT-based data analytics for renewable-rich grids.
The project addresses key challenges in the energy transition, including integrating wind, solar, and other variable renewable sources; managing seasonal demand peaks; and increasing flexibility, digitalization, and resilience in energy systems. Through joint research, training, and stakeholder engagement—including seminars, workshops, and collaborative publications—the project develops solutions applicable across Nordic, Baltic, and island energy contexts, aiming to strengthen Nordic–Baltic energy cooperation and contribute to a more sustainable, flexible, and digitally enabled energy future.
