Plant Structure and Function
Fakultet for biovitenskap, fiskeri og økonomi
Theoretical and practical subject. The course is offered on condition that a minimum number of students register for the course.
BIO-1001 Cell and molecular biology, BIO-1003 Botany, BIO-1004 Physiology
The course will give a thorough introduction to metabolism and function in plants, with special regard to regulation of plant growth and development and responses to environmental factors. The course focuses on functions at a plant level, but also relevant cellular and molecular mechanisms will be discussed. The lectures cover central topics for production (photosynthesis, mineralnutrition and waterbalance), vegetative growth and development, flowering and stress physiology with emphasis on cold stress. The laboratory course will give insight into selected research methods in plant physiology. The results from the exercise will be presented either oraly on a seminar or as a poster.
