Course contents
The course gives a general introduction to both protozoan and metazoan parasites (systematics, form and function, life cycles), with emphasis on examples from fish. Furthermore, the basic concepts of epidemiology and ecological interactions between parasites and hosts are discussed (population levels, statistical parameters, patterns of distribution, transmission, regulatory processes a.o.). The laboratory course will give students an introduction to practical sampling and preparation of fish parasites, and the writing of reports.

The course will give students an overview of the biology of parasites with emphasis on examples from fish, and an introduction to epidemiology.
