About the course

Teoretical

The academic departments may provide information about their current research projects and suggest dissertation topics. All students are required to present proposals for their own dissertation/thesis. Discussion of the research process and scientific method as applied in fisheries research. Topics include problem identification, hypothesis, sources of data, sampling concepts and designs, methods of collecting and analysing data, and the writing process. During the course each student develops a research proposal that may be associated with his or her thesis.

Objectives of the course

The objective of this course is to introduce students to research methodology to use in their thesis work.

Credit reduction

If you pass the examination in this course, you will get an reduction in credits (as stated below), if you previously have passed the following courses:

  • FSK-3006 Model theory and data processing methods 1 stp
  • FSK-3007 Fisheries management 1 stp

Multiple approaches through lectures and seminars.
