BIO-1001 Cell and molecular biology
Course contents
The course covers basic techniques to handle and cultivate mammalian cells. Sterile work methods are discussed, as well as the choice of cell lines and general cell care, more advanced techniques such as transfection, primary cell cultures and assessment of cell transformation.
Objective of the course
To give the students a practical introduction to the treatment of mammalian cell cultures and techniques used in research with mammalian cell lines

Teaching methods
20 hrs of lectures and 15 hrs of lab work.
Assessment methods

Written exam (3 hours). Grade type: pass / fail.
A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course.

15.05.2009 - Examination date is preliminary and may be subject to change. The definitive examination date will be announced on notice boards at the faculties at the beginning of the month of May for the spring semester and the beginning of the month of November for the autumn semester.
