Marine ecology
Norwegian College of Fishery Science
The course deals with three main marine science topics:
- Environmental knowledge: temp., salinity, density, light, heat-flux, air-sea interactions and regional characteristics.
- The ecology of pelagic organisms, abiotic and biotic interactions, dynamics.
- Benthic ecology: the organisms, populations, community ecology and basic pollution knowledge.
The course shall give the students basic knowledge of sea environmental issues (temperature, salinity, light, heat-flux, air-sea interactions), the functioning of the morst important groups of marine organisms, how organisms and environment interact plus some knowledge of marine pollution.
