Average grade requirements

UiT uses the ECTS scale when calculating your average grade.

Information regarding the ECTS credit system can be found here.
Information regarding the ECTS grading scale can be found here.

Degrees using the ECTS grading scale will be calulated with a weighted average, where a grade counts for more towards the average if the course has more credits.

For degrees using a grading scale that is not identical to that used at UiT, the applicant must be ranked on the basis of a discretionary assessment. We have internal guidelines for how to calculate such averages. Internal guidelines and the average grade will not be available for applicants. This assessment is only based on academic results, and other documentation will not be taken into consideration.

The minimum grade requirement for acceptance to most of UiT’s master programmes is an average grade of at least C (2,5). Note that some programmes do not have a grade requirement, and some require a hightened C (3,0). To see the average grade requirement for a programme see “Admission requirements” on the programme's page.

Note that a CGPA of 2,5 or 3,0 is not equivalent to a 2,5 or 3,0 in the ECTS scale.
