FNs Generalsekretær har laget Halvveisrapport om FNs 2.Urfolkstiår
FNs Generalsekretær har laget en handlingsplan for tiåret med innsats på områdene kultur, utdanning, helse, menneskeretter og miljø; både internajsonalt, regionalt og nasjonalt.
Fra sammendraget i rapporten:
The report concludes that substantive advances have been made towards achievement of the goal and objectives of the Decade.
The importance of the adoption, in 2007, of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the role it has had in the consolidation of a human rights-based approach to indigenous peoples’ issues at the intergovernmental and national levels is acknowledged.
However, a substantial gap is identified between intentions at the policy level and the actual implementation of specific objectives of the Second Decade.
It is stressed that further efforts must be made to transform initiatives at the policy level into effective action for and with indigenous peoples.

Rapporten ble behandlet i Sak 65 i FNs 65. session som i plenum 17.09.2010 bestemte at den skulle forberedes i Tredje komite. Komiteen oversendte sitt forslag til Generalforsamlingen 02.12.2010, som i sin tur behandlet forslaget, sammen med en rekke andre forslag, 21.12.2010. Forslaget til resolusjon ble vedtatt uten avstemming. Se også pressemelding fra komitebehandlingen.
Vedtak om rapporten 21.12.2010. I tillegg til å forslå en World Conference on Indigenous Peoples 2014 sammen med andre tiltak, inneholder resolusjonen en oppfordring til alle land om å følge opp forslagene i halvveisrapport om FNs 2.Urfolkstiår:
7. Calls upon States to consider the recommendations contained in the midterm assessment of the implementation of the Second International Decade and to enhance national and international efforts, including international cooperation for the solution of problems faced by indigenous peoples in such areas as culture, education, health, human rights, the environment and social and economic development by means of action-oriented programmes and specific projects, increased technical assistance and relevant standard-setting activities.
