Double presentation on Bioprospecting in connection with Martin Heimböck’s PhD Defense.

“Next-Generation Antimicrobials: From Host-Defense Peptides to Functional Peptoids.”
Professor Håvard Jenssens research group investigates how molecular structure governs biological function, with a particular focus on antimicrobial peptides, peptoids, and bioinspired materials for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
“Mining Environmental Microbiomes for BioTools: From Soil and Host Niches to Sustainable Solutions”

Diogo Proença's research focuses on environmental microbiology, microbial biotechnology, bioprospecting, and biological control, with a particular interest in developing sustainable microbial solutions - bioplastics and bionematicides - for agriculture and the bioeconomy.
He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Algarve and holds a PhD in Biochemistry, specializing in Microbiology, from the University of Coimbra. Throughout his career, he has conducted research in Portugal, the United States of America, Brazil, and Germany, contributing to both fundamental and applied microbiological research.
